I never thought of Aussie comedies as "unnerving", so I'm not sure how you get unnerved by folks having a laugh… but I think I get your point. They can be hard to understand at times, because Aussie sense of humor is often laced with heavy irony and sarcasm – a fact plenty of audiences dont pick right away. The Commitments is an awesome film, and have seen it a number of times over the years, but I can't say I've seen The Snapper. I'll have to look that one up! I wish I could recommend a number of Irish comedies that are up to scratch. "The Snapper" is a film that was shown on Irish television for what seem like the entire 1990s. And "The Commitments" – In fact, the cast members from that film are touring again.
