I saw this movie when I was a young stoned teenager on my friends 6 point surround sound system when we were home alone at night and let me tell ya…we didn’t sleep well for a few days…maybe weeks…

Oooh, i dunno, man. You get two amazingly hot actresses (Perth-ette Gemma Ward and Laura Margolis) and you keep them in a mask the whole time? Some nice suspense but i really felt the actors were underused and the story / directing didn't venture beyond the constraints of the cliché. But Liv looked good.

I think in hindsight (I wrote this review a few months ago) I gave this film a high rating because it surprised me with it's quality - I went in thinking it was gonna be a gore-fest and came away pleasantly surprised at just how good it was. I usually score horror/thriller films higher if they exceed my expectations, probably because my expectations of horror are generally pretty low! LOL!!

I thought it was a pretty decent horror movie but I'm surprised it got so many stars from you 😉 It's definitely a better movie because we don't know why and who they are. Totally agree about the last shot of the movie, completely extraneous and unwarranted.

I saw Them and The Strangers quite close together and preferred Them probably because of the European sensibilities. I think both films are based loosely on true stories. I put Them in my top 10 horror of the 2000s: http://www.top10films.co.uk/archives/1964

I thought it was an effective thriller. There's something menacing about the home invasion horror story. But I do think the film borrows heavily from the much better European film Them so in that respect it loses a few marks from me. In terms of the feral youth idea I think Funny Games and Eden Lake were more damning even if neither were necessarily any better.
