Man, I'm just impressed your mum watches sci-fi! I've been trying to get my wife to watch Star Trek (2009) for years and she won't go near it.

Yeah, Skyline is a turkey, there's no doubt. I was reading an article over the weekend about the Brother Strause and how confident they were about making a film with no studio interference - made me laugh because all the stuff they were saying about having complete creative control ended up helping them come unstuck. Goes to show that just because you have all the power to make whatever film you want, doesn't mean you can make a good film.

Oh dear. But I guessed this was bad because it seems to have been forgotten about since it was first released. My Mum watched it last night and she didn't like it. We don't often agree but I'm guessing I'll have the same thoughts as her on this one.

Thanks Rory! Skyline is as bad as you think, in most cases. Mmmm, Rebecca Romijn...... yummo!!!

It's a pity a films budget is not directly proportionate to the quality of the film. A real shame all this money was wasted on a terribly executed film, even if the idea behind it was solid.

As always, thanks for dropping by!

Rodney,
After a review like this there is little left to the imagination. "Skyline is a terribly scripted, terribly plotted, and terribly acted film in every sense." Not sure how anyone could proceed to the theater, exchange their cash for two tickets to nowhere, and expect not to get lost in their own misery.

Further on the subject, "Problem is, Skyline seems more of an excuse to have explosions and less an excuse to examine any realistic human reactions to a stressful situation." This is probably the single most crystalline assessment of the typical American movie-goer, once at the movies, turning off cell phone (mostly) preparing one large bucket of popcorn and one large colossal cylinder of high calorie sugary syrup, and checking inquiring at the door. Most like em' big and loud and not much from the characters but bulging biceps and hard rock bodies in painted on super suits. O.K. Sometimes that last line is O.K., I admit. Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkholme in X-men, nuff said. But in this case, you're insight is rapier sharp and sadly more accurate every day another big budget, special effects laden concept film lands on our doorstep like the proverbial turd in the paper bag set on fire waiting for the unsuspecting to stop it out before their house catches fire.

I'll miss this one. I'll probably rent it after a little Johnny Walker black label but I probably won't enjoy anything other than the blue light.

As exacting and detailed a review we've come to expect from ya' Rod. Thanks and cheers-0
