 @willsilver No worries re the link, and I didn't mean to infer you weren't in favor of old time Hollywood fun…. just the modern interpretation of it, I guess. 😉 I'd lump The Rocketeer in with other classic kid/adult films like The Last Starfighter and Short Circuit, amongst others. It's worth a revisit, but don't expect too much.

 @rtm No worries, Ruth. Yours was the only link I could find from my Blogroll for this film, so it was a shoe-in! After watching this film, I couldn't quite figure out why Campbell didn't become a bigger star – he's charismatic for sure, so why not I wonder? He comes off a little too much like Brendan Fraser has in recent times though. Perhaps that's the reason I kept thinking about The Mummy while watching this. And yes, Jennifer C was my first childhood crush (my God, I think I fell in love the first time I watched Labyrinth) and I agree, she's too anorexic lookin' for me now. Damn, those babes ought to eat some… you know, food.
