I very rarely shut off a film midway through, too, Will, because I'm prepared to give it the benefit of my time to endure if somebody had to make it. Off the top of my head the last couple of films I switched off were Ultraviolet (with Milla Jovovich) and My Blueberry Nights - damn, those films sucked. You'll find reviews of them elsewhere around here.

This review was actually due to go up where Snow White & The Huntsman ended up going, in at #501, but when I saw that film I decided to shift this one back even further... that said, this one's been on the backburner for a while, most of the time it's because better films keep popping into the queue! I work about five or six months ahead of time with my reviews, so if one does get pushed back it can appear quite later than when I write it! :D

Thanks Ruth! I miss Tumnus as well - and now it looks like the rest of the series won't be made on the back of this debacle. Such a shame, really.

Hahahaha, wow it's really that bad, huh? I saw the first in the theater and was completely underwhelmed, but enjoyed it. I tried to watch Prince Caspian and got about fifteen minutes in before I had to shut it off. And I never shut off a movie. Would never bother to see this.

On a different note, I also have to wonder how this review sat on the back burner of the Fernby stove for so long! Man I feel bad that I have a couple of reviews from late June that I keep pushing back, but wow this is almost a whole year! That's some impressive restraint on your part, or perhaps just complete apathy to posting about this movie you hated. :)

Yeah this is definitely a step down from the wonderful first movie. I wasn't even all that interested in seeing it so we just rented it on a slow night. I miss Mr. Tumnus! :)

Steer clear of this one, Jess, if you want to keep that special relationship intact.

Poulter is about the only good thing in the whole film. I never saw the BBC series, so I can't comment on that, but I'd imagine it would have more heart and soul than this effort.

Sad to hear it's such a terrible film. I'll stay away from it, that's for sure. And now that my kids are passed the best age for it, the chances that I'll need to see it are slim.

This was always my favorite book in the series (which I read many, many, many times). I don't want to risk ruining the relationship I have with the novel by seeing a bad adaptation.

Yep - awful film. I've never seen the end because I switched it off before I got there but I don't need to. I've read the book and seen the BBC TV series so I know what happens. Will Poulter had the best character but you're right about those other two kids - I just don't care. This is a great story but this film does it a disservice. Great review Rodders!
