You know what they say: you're only as good as your last film – and Singer has had a few stinkers…. Superman Returns and this one, in particular. The man needs to knock Days Of Future Past out of the park to gain back some respect. I doubt I'll ever convince you that this film was "okay", but you can't say I didn't try…. LOL!!!!

Meh.I wouldn't even say that was decent. There's only so much you can do with a f**kin beanstalk to make it look interesting. I thought the Giants were well done, but they were written poorly. The entire thing is just a huge miss given the cast and director. But I can forgive Singer for what else he's given us.

Exactly – it brings nothing to cinema except itself, which asks (and delivers) little. The thin story of the original Beanstalk tale was never going to support this film, with the only thing saving it from complete crappiness being some of the visual effects. The "beanstalk" effects are, in fact, rather decent.

It could also just be because of old age 😉 hahahahaha

You're right, I think the "romance" in the film was its weakest element, it didn't quite work for me either. And if I'm honest, I had forgotten about this film too, and had to re-read my review to jog my memory!!!
