I'm inclined to thing this current "lull" in Disney's animated film ability to strike the pop-culture zeitgeist continually means they're building to something big coming down the pipe. So long as they continue to develop more original films and ride less on sequels (my score for Frozen II waxes and wanes depending on my mood) I think they'll have more hits than misses. But after Ralph Breaks The Internet and Frozen II and now Raya sitting well into their middle-tier of films, they'd want to hurry up about it.

Hmm, interesting take, Rodney. I'm yet to see it (I don't have Premier access) but I'll be sure to watch it because it looks so bloomin' gorgeous. The stills I have seen have so much detail in them, like you write.

I agree that Moana was the last truly great film from the studio so hopefully they have some hidden movie magic up their sleeve that will hopefully be on the way soon.
